    Important Info 2019-2020

    ·        Arrival:  Students should arrive between 7:45-8:10. First grade students will go directly to the A pod unless they are eating breakfast. They will sit in the hallway, being monitored by a teacher. They may read a book or sit quietly. At 8:10, students will be dismissed to their homeroom class. If your child arrives after the 8:20 bell, please bring them to the front office to sign them in.  The office will ensure that your child gets to their classroom.

    ·        Dismissal:  We dismiss from the front of the school in the main walkway at 3:35. If you walk up to get your child you must have the car tag sign with you every time. If your child is a car rider, please have the “car sign” with their name displayed on your dashboard.  A faculty member will bring your child to your car.  If your child rides a bus, goes to daycare or the YMCA, please let your teacher know the name/number of the bus or daycare facility. If dismissal plans change, please put it in writing in the binder, write an email or call the office if it’s a last-minute change

    ·        Daily Communication Binder: Your child will have behavior communication sheets in their take-home binder. Please be sure to check this binder each day and initial their behavior sheet. On the back of the behavior calendar, there is a space for parent/teacher communication if needed. This binder is also where you will find important notes sent home, information about our class schedule & expectations, and their spelling homework (see Homework section).

    ·        Report Card:  Your child will receive a standards-based report card every six weeks. Visit www.aisd.net/k2reportcards for more detailed information.

    ·        Visitors:  If you would like to eat lunch with your child or have a conference or will be volunteering in the building, please check in at the office. They will scan your driver’s license and give you a visitor’s badge.  You will also need to check out in the office.



    ·        Volunteering and Field Trip Chaperones:  Please complete the volunteer form. You must be an approved to volunteer at the school and attend parties or field trips. A new volunteer application must be filled out each year:   https://www.aisd.net/community/volunteer/

    ·        Breakfast/Lunch:  Breakfast is served 7:45-8:05.  First grade’s lunch period is 11:40-12:15. You can access menus and set up an account online.  You can access all this info and more at the AISD food services website:  https://www.aisd.net/district/departments/chief-financial-officer/food-and-nutrition-services/

    ·        Dress:  Please dress your child so he/she is comfortable and ready for action. Tennis shoes are preferred as well as shorts under dresses/skirts. Please send a change of clothes in a zip-lock bag to keep in their backpack in case of accidents. (bathroom or food related)

    ·        Homework:  Your child will have reading homework on the Reading A-Z web-based program. Each child will have an individual login card sent home and books assigned to them that meet their independent level. They will also have a sight word booklet to practice and spelling homework, more information to come about spelling homework at the Parent Meeting night August 27th.

    ·        Birthdays:  If you would like to send a birthday treat for the class, you may.  Please consider sending store bought, prepackaged cookies – NO CUPCAKES, donuts or other sweets. We have students with food sensitivities and allergies.  You may send invitations, but we cannot pass out personal invitations unless the entire class is invited.
